In 1965, a small group of interested persons formed Belgium-Random Lake Migrant Services. This volunteer-based corporation assisted Hispanic migrants with education, employment and transitioning into the community.
In March of 1975, the corporation was granted funds from the Governor's Manpower Office through the Latin and Migrant Consortium. Communidad De Amigos, Inc. or "Friends of the Community" was established wih the focus on job training and job placement. The organization grew to a multi-service agency serving the residents of Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and Washington Counties. Our services expanded to provide assistance to the migrant population, resettled Hispanics, rural poor, youth, and other minorities in our area.
In the late 1980's, Communidad De Amigos, Inc, changed its name to Partners for Community Development, Inc. in response to the need for an increase in housing development services.
Today, Partners for Community Development, Inc. focuses on providing the best service in home remodeling, housing rehabilitation, residential energy conservation and homebuyers assistance programs. With the continued influx of Hispanic, Hmong, and Bosnian immigrants we continue to build on our employment and training services to the Limited Enlgish Proficiency population. |
